End-of-road privacy on the banks of a small creek only begins to describe the setting for this log cabin home in the Vallecito Lake Valley between Durango and Bayfield Colorado.  Three bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen plus living room with wood burning rock fireplace plus dining room inside.  Outdoors, the main deck includes a dining table plus footbridge over Grimes Creek with waterfront on both sides of creek, wooded lot with picnic table and open grassy lawn. 

This is one of the most private, low traffic homes we have experienced in the area.  Expect peace-and-quiet and a relaxing escape while staying at this home.  Access to the home is via state and county paved roads plus flat, well-maintained gravel  roads in a quiet neighborhood.  Though the home is surrounded by mountains, it is easy to drive to as the location is a flat , river valley area.

There is ample parking for multiple vehicles, boat, snowmobile and horse trailers, so bring your toys to enjoy more of the activities offered by this long-standing, adventure-filled resort lake community.

This mountain log home is in the heart of the Vallecito Lake Resort community located near the north end of the lake, which is a very convenient location to all lake area activities including boating, fishing, water skiing, hiking, horseback riding, road cycling, mountain biking, motorcycle riding (dirt and street), hunting in the fall, snowmobiling and more.  There is also the ‘locals favorite’ cross country skiing trail along the Eastern edge of the lake, which is groomed all winter for both classic skiing and skate skiing.

Just minutes from this home is The Rusty Shovel, one of the community’s newer eateries with great food, a full-service bar and pub games. Also nearby is the Vallecito Lake Country Market.  Here you will find staples including groceries, picnic and camping supplies, fishing tackle, gasoline and propane, candy, fudge and carry-out food.

The Vallecito Marina is about a twelve minute drive away with boat ramp, slips, boat rentals and more.  The town of Bayfield, Colorado is about a 25 minute drive and Durango is about a 35 minute drive through the beautiful, picturesque Florida River Valley.  LePlatt’s Pond wedding and event center, a very popular for family and group events, is close by, near the town of Bayfield.

Stay and play many ways at this comfortable, private home in the Vallecito Lake community.  Go out on a trail for Rocky Mountain solitude, and experience the friendly atmosphere and people in this Southwest Colorado resort.

Clean, well stocked, great location! This 3-bedroom house is a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it to others. Super clean, well-stocked kitchen, lots of dry wood for the fireplace, beautiful creek just outside the backdoor. It's nestled in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood.
