Only a ten-minute drive from downtown Durango, the peaceful setting and and convenient location are just the beginning of amenities at this quiet, comfortable home located in the Animas Valley, just ten minutes north of Durango, Colorado.  The one bedroom, one bath guest house has much to offer the traveler seeking the comfort, room, seclusion, mountain views plus easy access to Durango and the mountains to the north, including Purgatory Ski Resort.  

As a bonus, the home backs to National Forest land for ultimate privacy, frequent wildlife sightings and is just a few yards from the Haflin Trail, a challenging out-and-back hike to the top of the Animas Valley rim, providing spectacular, panoramic views of the river valley below.

The home is located on a large, treed lot, where privacy is evident, even when enjoying the multiple outdoor seating areas, lawn and patios. On the front side of the property, travelers will find the apple trees of the privately owned Durango Valley View Orchard, where guests are allowed to pick and enjoy apples of several varieties during their stay, including Golden Delicious, Honeycrisp and Red Delicious.  Contact us for best timing of Autumn apple harvest season.

On the rear side of the land, where the guest house is located, visitors will find seating on the groomed lawn, under trees in a side yard, and a beautiful setting with outdoor dining table on the main patio surrounded by groomed lawn and National Forest.  There is a gate allowing passage from the lawn to the Forest land just a few feet from the guest house.  This is a unique and very private setting just a few miles from downtown Durango.

Inside, guests are welcomed by a comfortable, bungalow-styled home that includes a lower level with living room, dining room and full kitchen in an open floor plan, with spiral stairs that lead to the romantic loft bedroom with queen bed and full bath on the upper level.  Modern appliances and comfortable furnishings make this quaint guest house cottage a cozy retreat after the day’s activities in the Durango area.

For the cycling enthusiast, the home is located on the main route of the Durango Valley Loop, a very popular road bike ride for locals and visitors which includes a scenic stop at Baker's Bridge, the famous spot where Butch and Sundance jumped into the Animas River to make their get-away in the now-classic movie.

In front of the home, there is a circular driveway with parking in the orchard area near the front of the main home, and a paved sidewalk to the side of the home that leads to the guest house behind.   Please be aware that the resident of the main home on this orchard property may present be in the separate, main house.
