With a stream-fed pond surrounded by aspen trees only feet from the front deck, visitors have no doubt they are in a Rocky Mountain river valley while staying at Aspenwood Cabin at Vallecito Lake between Durango and Bayfield, Colorado.  Three bedrooms, three full baths, sleeping up to eight people in beds, with options of king, two queen, a trundle with two twin beds to help meet the needs of various group configurations.  

Inside, the cozy, mountain cabin living room includes multiple sofas lounge chairs, large TV and rustic, wood burning stove.  The dining room, with seating for up to ten, is conveniently located between the living room and full kitchen.  Also on this main, ground level are two bedrooms, each containing either one king bed or one queen size bed.  Two full bathrooms are on the main level as is the laundry room.

Upstairs, a bedroom with queen bed and a trundle consisting of two twin beds is complimented by a sunny, south-facing balcony.  A full bath on this level supports the reading nook/loft and bedroom 

Outdoors, comfort on the front deck is enjoyed with deck chairs and a nice view of the pond.  More seating is available on the lawn at the pond’s edge under the Quaking Aspen trees.  Outdoor grilling is available in a breezeway attached to the home and there is room to park multiple cars plus space to park the trailer for boats, ATVs, motorcycles and snowmobiles.  

The private location is on a low traffic neighborhood lane with a nice amount of separation between homes.  Expect peace-and-quiet and a relaxing escape while staying at this home.  Access to the home is via state and county paved roads plus a flat, well-maintained gravel road in a quiet neighborhood.  Though the home is surrounded by mountains, it is accessible year round, as the location is in the flat, river valley area.

There is ample parking for multiple vehicles, boat, snowmobile and horse trailers, so bring your toys to enjoy more of the activities offered by this long-standing, adventure-filled resort lake community.

This mountain home is in the heart of the Vallecito Lake Resort community located near the north end of the lake, which is a very convenient location to all lake area activities including boating, fishing, water skiing, hiking, horseback riding, road cycling, mountain biking, motorcycle riding (dirt and street), hunting in the fall, snowmobiling and more.  There is also the ‘locals favorite’ cross country skiing trail along the Eastern edge of the lake, which is groomed all winter for both classic skiing and skate skiing.

Just minutes from this home is The Rusty Shovel Grill, one of the community’s newer eateries with great food, a full-service bar and pub games. Also nearby is the Vallecito Lake Country Market.  Here you will find staples including groceries, picnic and camping supplies, fishing tackle, gasoline and propane, candy, fudge and carry-out food.

The Vallecito Marina is about a 10-minute drive away with boat ramp, slips, boat rentals and more.  The town of Bayfield, Colorado is about a 25 minute drive and Durango is about a 35 minute drive through the beautiful, picturesque Florida River Valley.  LePlatt’s Pond wedding and event center, a very popular venue for family and group events, is close by, near the town of Bayfield.
