The home is located within about a five-minute drive to Purgatory Resort, about 30 minutes from downtown Durango and the Durango Train, and Mesa Verde National Park is a scenic one-hour drive to the Southwest.  

This home is on the San Juan Scenic Byway, also known as the Million Dollar Highway, repeatedly named one of America’s ten most scenic drives by travel guides worldwide.  The drive connects Durango, Purgatory, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride and more through incredible mountain vistas, fun attractions plus miles and miles of National Forest trails. 

From the large, rear deck of this home, the view takes in a high alpine lake in the distance and high mountain beyond.  The rear deck is large enough for outdoor enjoyment with gas grill and outdoor dining furniture. The deck overlooks the open, flat backyard area, where there is room for folks to be outside but still within sight of the house.

From the front porch and the front upper bedroom balcony, views can be seen of the western cliffs, carved by glaciers long ago.

The home is reached via paved roads, and is accessible year round.  Outdoor parking for multiple vehicles is located in the flat, parking area next to the home. The house fronts the highway but still offers a reasonable level of privacy in this easy-to-reach residence.

Enjoyment of the home begins when entering the front door, into the open floor plan living room, and dining room.  Comfort and convenience in the living room includes large screen TV with cable service, plus a large fireplace and wood stove for coziness during winter months. There is a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room that is separate from the main seating area.

The well-appointed kitchen is separates the living area from the private bedroom on the main level. Kitchen counter dining places offer additional seating to the six place-setting dining table.  Also on the main level is a bath with walk-in shower.  The laundry closet with full-size washer and dryer is located near the kitchen.

The bedroom on this, main level, is privately tucked away from the rest of the main floor of the home, with king size bed and views similar to the stellar view from the back balcony.  

On the upper level is the master bedroom, with king size bed and balcony with the spectacular eastern views of lake and mountains. The master bath, is located in the master bedroom suite for convenience and privacy.

Also on the upper level is another bedroom with full size bed and a covered balcony, with beautiful views of the cliffs on the opposite side of the valley.

While this home is located very close to highway 550, traffic noise, to our experience is quite limited, and in our opinion, not loud.  This highway is the main corridor between Durango and Purgatory, and also part of the San Juan Scenic Byway (The Million Dollar Highway).

Will definitely Book again in the future. Everything was so perfect, so much room and open space nice furniture all through the cabin. We had such a relaxing and wonderful time. Perfect Location, Awesome scenery and beautiful updated cozy cabin with everything you need. It's perfect for the family, couple or an individual. Ready to go back!

In winter (November through April), It is Highly recommended that you have a four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicle, vehicles with medium to high clearance and winter/snow tires. Although the roads and driveway are well-maintained, they will be snow packed and slick.

Consistent with most Colorado mountain resorts, the home does not offer air-conditioning. Home is equipped with either a ceiling fan, box fan and at least one opening window to assist with climate control.
