This mountain home is in the heart of the Vallecito Lake Resort community located at the heart of the lake community, which is a very convenient location to all lake area activities including boating, fishing, water skiing, hiking, horseback riding, road cycling, mountain biking, motorcycle riding (dirt and street), hunting in the fall, snowmobiling and more.  There is also the ‘locals favorite’ cross country skiing trail along the Eastern edge of the lake, which is groomed all winter for both classic skiing and skate skiing.

The cabin is a very short drive or walk from the Vallecito Lake Marina, which is the main access point for boating and fishing activities at Vallecito Lake.  Pura Vida Restaurant and Cantina is also at this location and is a good spot for summer season dining and refreshments.  The is just far enough away from this activity hub to be quiet and peaceful, but so close that coming and going from the marina area is quick and easy.

The rustic, comfortable, relaxed cabin-style home is situated in a rare, waterfront ‘pocket’ neighborhood with a few other homes and cabins nearby.  Neighbors live in this neighborhood both full-time and seasonally, and seek the same quiet retreat as guests staying at Cabin on the Lake, so it’s peaceful, quiet and relaxing in this little community on the water’s edge.

Just minutes from this home is The Rusty Shovel Grill, one of the community’s newer eateries with great food, a full-service bar and pub games. Also nearby is the Vallecito Lake Country Market.  Here you will find staples including groceries, picnic and camping supplies, fishing tackle, gasoline and propane, candy, fudge and carry-out food.

The Vallecito Marina is about a 10-minute drive away with boat ramp, slips, boat rentals and more.  The town of Bayfield, Colorado is about a 25 minute drive and Durango is about a 35 minute drive through the beautiful, picturesque Florida River Valley.  LePlatt’s Pond wedding and event center, a very popular venue for family and group events, is close by, near the town of Bayfield.
